Welcome to the Vintage Radio Control Society website


The Vintage Radio Control Society (VRCS) is an AMA Special Interest Group, focused on the preservation and advancement of vintage radio control aircraft. Our members come from varied backgrounds and interests that help shape our vintage RC hobby! We hold numerous events throughout the country where you will see vintage aircraft fly as they have done for years. Come join us and experience the nostalgia of yesteryear!

2026 VINTAGE EVENTS

The 2026 Vintage RC Society Events have been completed!  We thank our Contest Directors who take the time to prepare and hold their events, as this is a significant way that we share and enjoy our hobby with others.  We also thank the VRCS members and other fellow modelers who supported and attended the events, and encourage everyone to check out the PHOTO ALBUMS on the Main Menu tab above to see the photos that were submitted from this year's events. 

Our 2027 VRCS Events calendar will be updated early next year as events are confirmed.  If you and your club are interested in hosting an event in 2027, VRCS provides the hosting club money for hosting the event that helps offset the cost to the club.  Please see the Event Director Information button below for more information.  Thank you!

Each year, we encourage everyone to check out the upcoming VRCS events by clicking the VRCS EVENTS Main Menu Tab above.  Here you will find the event information (date(s), location, and contact information).  Please support your regional events and have a great time flying and meeting fellow VRCS members!

Check out our TWO Members-Only FORUM sections on our website Main Menu: a FOR SALE/WANTED forum and a VRCS-focused Discussion forum to share information, questions, help needed information.

You will also find VRCS FORUM INSTRUCTIONS to use and post  in the forums.  
Click on the FOR SALE/WANTED AND HELP FORUM Menu tab above on the MAIN Menu.  Then select the "Forums" drop-down to view the forums, or "VRCS Forum Instructions" for instructions on how to review and post items in each forum. 

VRCS DONATIONS

Hello members and visitors to our website.  VRCS just launched a DONATIONS link as a way of helping the Vintage Radio Control Society continue to support our organization and members.  Please click on the VRCS DONATIONS Tab above on the Main Menu for more information.  We thank you for your continued support in helping us grow and share our focus on keeping the Vintage RC airplane history alive and well!

The Theme Plane Committee has selected the Ken Willard designed Top Flite School Girl as the 2027 VR/CS Theme Plane.

2027 Blast from the Past Aircraft
For 2027, the Blast from the Past Aircraft is any Carl Goldberg Design, and this means any model personally designed by Carl Goldberg.

It will be time to start building soon, so let's enjoy the rest of the season and then consider the 2027 Theme Plane and/or the 2027 Blast from the Past aircraft to build/get ready for 2027!  Enjoy!

NOTE: The 2026 Theme Plane - Pronto by Dave Robelen - is still the active Theme Plane for the remaining 2026 VRCS Events!

Vintage Radio Control Society Facebook Page

 

Hello fellow modelers. I wanted to let you know that our Vintage Radio Control Society Facebook Page is LIVE! Several of you have already posted, and it's exciting to see the information and photos being shared. We encourage you to click on the link below and join our Facebook page. Our intent is to be active on this page by sharing tips, photos, discussions, help needed, events and so much more that is Vintage RC related! It's simple - click on the link below and JOIN GROUP.  NOTE: Since the Facebook Page is PRIVATE, you will be asked to answer three very short questions for approval to view and contribute to the Facebook page. The site was moved to "private status" to help minimize spam or scammers on the page. The Facebook page is checked daily to view and approve new member requests.

Recent News

Now that our 2026 VRCS events are completed, we encourage you to consider hosting an event in your area in 2027.  The Vintage RC Society provides the hosting clubs a payment to the club that helps offset the costs of holding the event.  You can read all about the money VRCS provides the hosting club by clicking on the Event Director Link below!

Our Mission

 

The Vintage Radio Control Society (VRCS) is an organization dedicated to the preservation of our radio control history - the achievements of those electronic and airframe design pioneers that made radio control flight the best hobby/sport in the world today. We do this through our bi-monthly newsletter, The Vintage Flier, annual reunions and fly-in events.

 

Our Objective

Our primary objective is to build and fly vintage model aircraft designed specifically for radio control. We recommend the use of modern radios and motors for reliability.  Vintage radios can be used if they are reconditioned to today's reliability standards. Internal combustion power can be replaced by electric power if desired.
